While crying why people get runny nose....
A good cry always....comes with a runny nose
Not only through crying.... our eyes get watery through several other reasons......
★dirt or eyelashes stuck in our eyes(eyes water to drain out the dirt and to keep it clean)
★when you are around onion begin peeled or chopped(in onion there are certain fumes which irritates eye)
★cold air or wind and smoky places (cold air and wind makes the eye dry so....eyes become watery to keep it hydrated)
Is it nasal discharge that... comes through nose while crying?
No.... it's actually a tear from your eye comes through nose because of excess tear production
You're crying: When you cry, tears come out of the tear glands under your eyelids and drain through the tear ducts that empty into your nose. Tears mix with mucus there and your nose runs.
When a person cries, several physiological responses occur in the body that can lead to a runny nose.
Factor's such as
★Excess tear production
★Activation of the autonomic nervous system
★Changes in nasal blood flow and pressure
Tears are produced by the lacrimal glands, which are located in the upper outer portion of the eye. When a person cries, these glands produce an increased volume of tears, which then overflow and drain through the nasolacrimal ducts into the nasal cavity. This excess fluid can result in a runny nose...
Here are the Pathway of tears from eye to nose
From lacrimal gland tears drain to excretory lacrimal duct (tiny tube like structure which excreat tear into eye)this is when our eyes get full of tears.....in the medial corner of eye you can find a hole through which tear enters in lacrimal canal know as superior and inferior lacrimal canal....
From Lacrimal canal tear drain into lacrimal sac....and from sac travels into a nasolacrimal duct. Nasolacrimal duct opens into inferior meatus of the nasal cavity
Tear After reaching nasal cavity....tear drips out from nose
Tear route |
Pathway in short
Lacrimal gland -->eye👁️-->lacrimal canal
--->lacrimal sac--->nasolacrimal duct--->nostrils 👃
That's how tear comes through nose...
In addition to the overflow of tears into the nasal cavity, crying can also trigger the autonomic nervous system, which controls involuntary bodily functions such as heart rate, breathing, and digestion. This can lead to nasal congestion and an increase in nasal secretions, further contributing to a runny nose.
Furthermore, crying can also cause physiological changes, such as an increased heart rate and breathing rate, which can lead to the dilation of blood vessels in the nasal passages. This dilation can result in increased blood flow to the nasal mucosa, leading to congestion and nasal discharge.
It's also worth mentioning that emotional crying often involves deep breathing, which can lead to a change in air pressure within the nasal cavity and sinuses. This change in pressure can contribute to the sensation of a runny nose while crying.
